A Touch of Citrus
By Ursula Gross-Hohnacker http://www.biggirlsblouselondon.com/
Published: 10/07/2009Neon has taken over the summer for the young and trendy. T-shirts with luminous graffiti prints and accessories are displayed all over the high street – but the more mellowed citrus palate whether plain or in combinations will have a longer wardrobe life.
Although the orange spectrum was especially seen on various catwalks, the citrus palate is broad and includes citrine and chartreuse - not forgetting the softer tones of coral and strawberry pink.
Citrus tones appear best on abstract prints and teamed with white will give a fresh feel to a holiday wardrobe. Look out for printed sundresses, kaftans, tunic tops and do not forget that these lively colours work well as coordinated cover-ups, wraps and sarongs for the beach.
Brights, neon and citrus tones come into their own this season for make-up. Orange nails are a must according to fashion editors – look at directional ranges such as BarryM, Rimmel, Gosh, MeMeMe and Sleek which are inexpensive but bright and fun.
BarryM Tangerine and Yellow nail polish £2.89
If you do not want to risk the very vivid colours - chose the tones that are slightly pearlised which soften the overall look.
